About Hector
'I was a Sunday school teacher for eight years, a hometown youth leader / community organizer for 12 years, the youngest pioneering counselor, psychometrician, & professor in our community college. In the University, I pioneered my role as a Discipline Education Officer, became a Personal Effectiveness & Leadership Trainer, Publications Director, & Career Management Program Administrator. Off-camp, I’ve flourished as an Organizational Development Practitioner, while progressively involved in the formation of school administrators, faculty, & students pro bono for 25 years & still counting.'
What does it mean to you to be selected for the People’s Choice Award?
'It’s a very humbling experience being nominated by a Colleague. Emilia Freitas Alho is a thousand miles away, but we share the same love for service. It’s been my lifelong journey & commitment to do what is good and right as a Survivor. I make myself accountable in helping those who are underrepresented, deprived, neglected, discriminated against, & abused. Being chosen as a Finalist for this award validates & promotes my purpose and an opportunity to inspire others to do the same.'
Hectors's nominators say:
‘He has a gift for making others feel capable and valued, and his gentle yet impactful style of communication is something I deeply admire. What stood out most was how he leads with intention and heart. He doesn’t just teach—he uplifts.’
